#146622 I'm gonna post here first: (actually a team finder request)

Posted by SapporoGuy on 07 May 2016 - 01:38 PM

Before I post a full write up and knowing the state of Denmark here I wanted to test the waters.

Here's the nitty gritty:

I need apps to pull device information and phone home. Devices are pcs, macs, idevices, and chromebooks.

Those apps will provide information to a system that I have built which is an asset management system.

I need to check on actual number of devices but I'm just gonna throw out 10,000 at the moment. Licensing I need to need to check but I probably could get it to be year.

Potential device numbers? Just on 2 locations will be around 20,000 and growing.

What I get? Apple tax and 1 additional app made to provide a simple portal for a website. Also, I'm still considering about source code access on my part.

Is anybody here interested and can deliver?

#146317 What the fuck Murica (philliy!!) hitchbot

Posted by SapporoGuy on 03 August 2015 - 11:48 PM

Honestly, I'm not surprised. :(

I'm sure somebody was just thinking it is a ball of laughs to whack something dumbass as this robot

How can A fucking toy can travel across Europe and only make it 2 weeks in the U.S.?

Is the U.S. So centered around one self and people who think that their feelings surpass others. ( https://www.washingt..._opinions_pop_b) ???

Is the Donald more than some jackass douchebag that is calling out to a shit load of people who are finally fed up enough to express their ire that they would vote the Donald in just because he has enough balls to say shit that most Muricans are scared shitless to say because they will be crusified by silly ass social justice warriors???

Many of good people will pile into houses of glitter that populate our neighborhoods and pay a share of their yearly salaries for that privilege but only to forget as soon as they leave those well worn in benches to only remember that their feelings, lazy ass attitudes, poor ass manners and I ain't gonna give you a break attitudes are their mantras.

Obviously not all Muricans are horrible since Hitchbot did have a fun 2 weeks. Maybe he ? She ? It ! Has a n educational story for us, maybe he didn't end up in /null for nothing ... Hopefully his binary soul will rise up show us that social educational standards surpasses common core standards can over power the shoot first mentality that the Muricans have grown used too :(

Oh well, maybe this country will grow up eventually and learn how to be mature ...
Rip dude!

#146283 Child discipline ... I was so close :(

Posted by SapporoGuy on 13 July 2015 - 09:17 PM

As some of you know I was a teacher as my main profession for a while. A long while ;)

Anyway, my approach to bullying is very similar to what this article gets at. It's a shame I wasn't smart enough to apply the same principles to problem students and that I now really regret :(

Even though this a school based approach I believe that it would work at home too.

If or when you have children look for schools that take this approach!!!!!!!

#146263 Chicago is gonna charge a cloud tax

Posted by SapporoGuy on 01 July 2015 - 10:38 AM

Stupid argument.

Lack of city thought into rebuilding a taxable business base means they'll just look into taxing what ever... Video shops may have disappeared so why don't they try to build brick and mortar businesses that they could tax instead???

This is gonna happen in more places!

#146175 need opinion for intern

Posted by SapporoGuy on 16 June 2015 - 09:30 AM

We've got an intern that wants to pick up programming to support their career field choice.

Basically, she is going into enviornmental something something dealing with monsato seed populations and what not and what not. (lol, basically what I took away from that conversation ... ugh)

So, she"s saying she wants to use cross studies to implement better practices in her field. Before she goes off to graduate school this year in she was hoping to pick up a language that is relevant or would help her in the future.

It sounds like she needs a language that can deal with large data sets and crunching of big data eventually.

Also, I'd like her to even jsut walk away with a language that isn't the hipster flavor of the day but rather leave her with best practices.

We talked about a few languages and for some reason I have the feeling python might be the best (alternatives are java and C#/.net) ... but I'd rather hear from y'all and get your opinions.

Sounds more like the algorithms aren't geared for tech jobs but more towards sales and marketing.

#145892 The importance of a local server?

Posted by SapporoGuy on 28 April 2015 - 12:39 AM

Buy as in actual hardware?
We have vendors come in, listen to their stupid jokes and chatter among themselves (HP reps), let them evaluate our current hardware and then wait for their tender. I actual prefer the old school types that bring food or take us to food, have swag to pass out, are friendly and seem willing to actually want to help more than sell.

We make the phone call and they show up on the door step on various forms of attitudes from friendly to banal ass wipes.

If you're talking "hosting", I'd say a similar routine still applies outside of the possibility of them coming to you. Look at your usage, projected 3-5 year growth plan, and get estimates from decent established companies who will be around a during that projected time.

If you buy short makes sure you can scale fast enough. The opposite would be being able to drop your scalability to a cheaper bracket after review has been done.

That is actually pretty cool! Nice!
I can totally see garage bands being uploaded and then a few years later watching those very same bands playing in MTV!

Ugh, totally miss those days and open kegs with free as in "beer" beer!

Sticky with it and I'll be able to read about you being bought out :)
