Carna Botnet: activity map over 24 hours
22 March 2013 - 03:15 PM

Recent article on the carna botnet: http://www.theregist...4_internet_map/
This looks pretty interesting. The bonnet isn't being used maliciously and tries to avoid disrupting anything (it even blocks out another botnet that uses similar methods but for malicious reasons, and is removed when the device is rebooted), so I honestly don't have a problem with it. The guy running it is providing some interesting statistics and maps, and is really highlighting how important it is to change your password from the default! -
[Full team] Crowdsourced copy editing site
25 February 2013 - 06:03 PM
We need a team to plan and build the site discussed in this idea: http://webdevrefiner...d-copy-editing/
In short, the site will provide a crowdsourced copyedit experience; writers upload their copy to the site and deposit some money, and then editors edit said copy to earn some of the money. Besides the obvious, this presents a number of challenges: how does a site provide the copyedit experience with compromising too much in terms of privacy? Who will be liable for what and why? Please do not discuss this in this topic, as this is for finding a team.
This site will aim to generate a profit. Profit sharing will be discussed as a team once it has been assembled, and will be fair.
I don't really care what language the backend uses. I can help out with PHP, but if you're a RoR developer who wants to help, reply anyway.
The team so far
Currently we just have me and Arron. Between us, we have the front-end, branding and project management aspects covered.
Skills we are looking for:
- Backend development. Language hasn't been decided yet, so reply whatever your language.
- Someone who knows stuff about money and payment.
- Marketing. I have a few contacts, but your help would be great here.
- Someone who can deal with a server / hosting.
In the future, we will also be looking for test writers and editors.
Reply / ask questions in this thread, I'll PM or reply in this thread as appropriate. -

The w3schools experiment
05 February 2013 - 06:40 PM
I have signed up to the w3schools comments and am making helpful comments on peoples threads and answering questions far better than anyone else.
I have "w3schools sucks" in my signature.
I wonder what will happen; will the moderators remove it from my signature, or will they ban me?

Learning from jQuery
29 January 2013 - 05:29 PM
My book, Learning from jQuery, was sent to the printers yesterday! :-D
Free sampler is available at the bottom of the product page. It's pretty different to the original I posted here before.
