Need a new site Icon Design

I am currently in the business of forming wordpress based websites and then selling them to individuals. I had one domain setup so far and am currently in the process of selling it. Well my new "IP" if you will is named "Shallow Gamer" and represents a non-bullshit view of games. I formed the site around the simple premise "If it looks great on my device Ill play it, regardless of controls, story, other game aspects".

So I am coming to this community asking for help in creating a look for the site icon that I can develop the site around. Something thats minimalistic, yet says a lot. If that makes any sense.

Or something thats large and flashy and filled with eye candy.

I have tried a few things my self but to no avail. For instance I took some neat font in photoshop and typed out the site name, then stuck the site name under a water filter to give it the effect of being in shallow water. Didn't come out right and I scrapped it. I just purchased Illustrator as I just learned about icons and such needing to be vector rather than raster.

Having seen some of your designs I felt it best to come here and ask for help.

If you would kindly assist me I would greatly appreciate it. And I may need a site designer as well. Which would be a paid gig.

Thanks a bunch guys and any help is much appreciated!!!!

Believe it or not I did. The money I earn from building and selling things goes towards purchasing programs like that. Fixed up an old dodge charger with my father and sold it for a nice little bit. Used that money to purchase illustrator as well as Mac OS X Lion

Mad respect for supporting Adobe :)

On the other on-topic hand, I can't help you as I fail when it comes to creating icons.

So this is my first attempt at an icon/site name stuff. Used pyron font that I found thanks to a member here. Forgot the name, I believe aaron hunt was the designer.

Any thoughts or comments?

There are several ways to take this icon. One as shallow waters hence the diver. which is a play on words. OR the literal way I meant it, which was I look for the pretty things and dont care about anything else other than looks. Thats why the text is different colors. Lighter on the inside as there is not much there. Which is another take on the term shallow.

The color scheme will fit with the site design I would like to work with. Il try and draft up the main site page in terms of graphics tonight. Then post it in the appropriate section. I need a site coder though to make everything work the way I have it planned.

But like I said all criticisms are welcome, however, do not be too harsh as I am not a graphic designer at all. I just dabble here and there occasionally.

Hahaha I got the two mixed up. I'm that bad at design that I cannot tell the difference. :/

Still any thoughts?
