You just copy pasted the famous "developer portfolio". Every developer including qwertyoruiop, Optimo, rpetrich, DHowett have websites like this, this is a complete rip-off.

I looked at that site this morning - worked fine then.
It looks exactly the same as Callum's design, with the exception of a few details. Hell, even the content is the same.

The only two two of those "famous" portfolios I could find were these:
http://qwertyoruiop.com/
http://howett.net/

I guess that yeah, the first one has a white background...

If you looked hard enough then I guess yeah, you could find sites that look like mine. I mean, it is generic as hell. If I copied someone, it certainly wasn't intentional.

Similar-ish layout (generic). Similar colours (generic). Same dividers (generic). That's about it.

He has collected enough money for his future life, so he didn't need to develop anymore I guess.
He still develops, but free tweaks.

Are you on a netbook or something!?

Nice but the footer is very close to the navigation links and there is a lot of white space not being used near the top.

It's because you've put padding and margin left on every link in the list. This means that it's applied to the first link too. Quick choppy fix is to slam it all in a div and move the div left a bit.

Or to put half of the margin on the -left and the other half on the -right side.

Looks great! I love the simplicity factor. I agree with the fact that the fades are a bit long but I love the effect when you hover over about :)

Or by using :first-child (which is what I think I did, in the end)

Not really. It has a copyright, and one in seven times it advertises an IRC channel.

I still don't think they look that similar, and I certainly didn't copy it >_<

Woooaaaah, after loading the actual website instead of the google cache I can see what you mean, they're like identical >_<

Mine is better though :D
