Stopping the WORST Illustrator trait on earth.

Please help. DEAR GOD PLEASE HELP.
I don't know if anyone's noticed (I'm kidding, I know someone must have), but there's a really annoying little feature in Illustrator that allows (and pretty much expects) objects to be positioned at x.5px, but only some. I use Illustrator to make logos out of shapes, and this pisses me off - especially when repositioning doesn't actually work. It puts things out of alignment, and makes my work look slightly wonky.

Does anyone know if there's a way to prevent this stupid positioning behaviour, or to avoid it? I just want to get my work done, and this is bugging me big time.

You are asking if it's possible to avoid getting x.5 pixel coordinates? Maybe try enabling snapping.

I actually managed to figure out what was happening - big derp on my behalf

The transform box was listing co-ordinates for the middle of each shape, rather than the corner. Because many of the shapes were 5px tall or wide, it was causing it to register as a placement of x.5 px. Silly Cheddam.

Thanks anyway :P

This may be a bad way but if you use larger sizes you can zoom in and move things easier then use a image re-sizer later to get the desired size. I agree with you though it makes illustrator annoying and I end up switch from illustrator to Photoshop then having to go back.

Not any more ;-)

@itom07: It is worth noting that some forums are moving slowly and thus, some of the lower down topics are really REALLY old. I made that mistake when I joined, too - get into the habit of looking at the dates (or as I do, only reply to topics in New Content)
