Welcome to Ireland!

If you're reading this text, you're on our new server in Ireland :). This server is much, much more powerful than what wdR has been running on since its inception just over a year ago, and should handle our much more inflated traffic far better.

Waters might be choppy over the next day or so as I monitor our traffic and tweak server caching and process management settings to better serve everyone, but I promise downtimes (if any) will be minimal and planned ;-). Except for the unplanned ones. Which I don't plan to have. Right.

Anyway, welcome to our new home, and hopefully this proves to be faster and more stable than what we've seen in the past few weeks :). If you're interested in IRC, keep your eyes on the About the Site forum over the next couple weeks, because after I finish migrating sites to this server, I'm planning to put another IRC server up and open it to wdR.

Cheers!
Kyek

Great to hear it all went okay! :D
Load times seem a bit slower now. Not significantly, but a little bit slower.

I was at work when I wrote that. It's faster at home for me. Which is odd since the Internet connection at work is a fibre connection, whereas I've only got ADSL2+ at home. That, and the ping is a lot higher at home (350ms compared to about 270ms at work).

Interesting route:
Tracing route to webdevrefinery.com [188.165.235.145] over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms adsl.dan.cx [10.0.0.1]

Interesting traceroutes... That makes me question whether we're actually in the Ireland datacenter or not. OVH is a french company, so it's not out of the question that there are hops in France... Strange. IP Geolocation shows France for this IP, but my additional IPs had to come from Ireland. Which usually means the physical server is in Ireland.

...But 3 hops in France right before the endpoint is pretty damning evidence. Hmm.
