Help - Using IE script to fix browser conformance issues

Script not working
Hey guys, I've been trying to use the IE script to fix browser conformance issues but it doesn't seem to be working. Attached is a copy of the code. Is there a concept missing, can somebody please help!
<!--[if lte IE 7]>
<script src="ie7/IE8.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<![endif]-->

Yeah, the file IE8.js is contained in that directory ie7 and it's an open source script I learnt from Dean Edwards at ie7-js or is there a better way of working out all this mess?

And the HTML file is in the same folder as ie7 folder I assume. Been a long time, only thing I can thi of is that maybe there needs to be two dashes at the end of the if statement, t I'm sure that the other would have said something.
