[Solved] Creating a pull-quote block

I was following this article to create a pull-quote block.

When using it in a page, it styled quirky (like here), and in each browser it looked super odd.

I put it in a JSFiddle here to show to you guys to ask for help making it work, but it seems to work fine in all browsers in the jsFiddle, the same as it works fine on the 24ways.org webpage. Why is it acting odd when utilized in my page, then?

I couldn't get the finicky behavior to go away, so instead I opted to creating the pullquote using this method.
