lynxphp design

Please be rude about my new design for lynxphp: http://cl.ly/413z2R3W0J1d1O1B1q3o/o

It is based somewhat on a design by Renegade, but all the bad bits are mine :-)

Anyway, criticism please!

The relative sizing of the different text elements in your design need to be reworked. The content paragraphs seem too big and bold, the title of the article is bigger than the logo-type, the date is too large. The spacing could be better as well, I'd add some padding between the date and the first paragraph... and to make this sound not as sour and make it constructive criticism, I like the colour scheme and good job!

Thanks, I'll fix some of that later :-)

Re title being bigger than logo, what's wrong with that?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so others might be fine with it, and there's nothing "wrong" per say, but from a UI/UX perspective, it throws me off a bit when I see such a large title, in reference to the things around it.

Hmmm. Personally for me, it looks pretty bland. I'm normally a minimilist kinda person, but I think it NEEDS something. Whether that be a vertical menu bar below the banner, or a very simple column to the ;eft/right with a calender/archive/recommened reading/fb/twitter/YT/g+/digg etc. links. I think on the right would look good.

I like the colour scheme!

Is that the logo for lynxphp? Because I think you need to make a logo for it. It would the site look overal alot better if there was a logo.

Callum isn't a designer, TheMaster. I'm sure one of us could make him a logo. :)
Thanks,

+1 bland

Maybe you should have done more work before posting here.

Lynx ... Logo ... Something that symbolizes the pointy striped ears.

I'm not doing a logo yet, I'm going to do that when I've changed the name.

Made some changes: http://cl.ly/092o2t2p0W1x2t1x2q2b/o

In addition to fixing a few typography issues, I also added the links to the header, changed the article text, and added tags.

I feel like the titles are too big. And the text of the date is not a fitting font. The tags really draw my eye away from the text. Also, the search bar should align with something instead of just kinda floating. Have you considered no rounded corners for the search bar, as everything else is right angles besides that?
..What do I do with all these cakes I baked?

The date font is the same font as everything else, and the search bar won't let me straighten it out.
