Interesting, that only one man voted for engagy. It is Renegade. Is any option to mention his name on this forum, so he could be able to see this post and explain his choice?

No there are no ways to annoyingly tag people :P

sicret

Cover blown!

I like the look of Enga.gy and it sounds fun. Also the connotations that go along with it are a plus. You could also make a kick-ass logo with a spark or something.

Cloud anybody explain what @Renegade mean when saying " the connotations that go along with it[engagy name] are a plus"?
I don't get which connotations hi mean as I am not native English speaker.
Thanks

I mean it has ..other meanings to go along with it? I'm not really too sure how to explain it now that I think about it. Engagy for mean would me a company that's happy to "engage" and connect with its users. It's really all about how people interpret it personally.

Definition of connotations:

Quote

An idea or feeling that a word invokes for a person in addition to its literal or primary meaning.

EDIT: fixing wacky grammar

Thanks everybody for you voting.
I have one more question about it. Which name is better suit the startup concept from your opinion?

I am asking it cause the voting was overall assessment which included quality of the name in general, domain zone and other factors I had considered. Now I am asking about one specific factor.

En-nah-gah-gy which i thought was a creative spelling of "energy". I was surprised when you said it meant "engage"!

Hmmm, are:
oh.gy, fog.gy, or frog.gy available? You could have some del.icos.us fun with the .gy ending :)

I did read ripple the first time.

Lol, nipple ... Too many videos? ;)

At the moment I like riple.com but what kind of start up are you thinking?

The startup is a website that allow marketers a new way of posting promotions (special offers or special content) on social networks. The way it not spam friend's feed of people who share it, and in the same time it has a mechanics that promote viral effect.

You could try using crowds ourcing websites like http://www.squadhelp.com to get domain name suggestions. Naming a website or business is really time consuming.

So, I have registered Riple.com.
I like concept of ripple effect for my service. However, it is not spelled right. Needs 2 p's.
The problem that maybe most Americans won't make the connection -- that Riple is the same as Ripple (I am not American so it's not easy to catch for me).

Perhaps I need to try some other variations: ripplefx, ripple-fx, ripplepond? fx=effect. What do you think?

I hate both - especially if you are trying to start a new website. Neither have real words (riple is spelt wrong as you know, and is therefore harder to remember). I read the first as en_gay. Not a good choice for a website, as the first thing people think of is gays.

I personally think, that if you are going to be running a start up company - you come up with a name for the company THEN find domain names.

You don't say "here's some domains I have lying around - I'll use one of them."

^ just my thoughts.

EDIT: Just realised you hadn't pre-registered the domains. Well in that case, how the hell did you come up with those names?!

I did pre-registered Riple.com and Enga.gy. Sure I had many names in my list before registering several. As I sad, my English is not native, that's why I do not feel many things about names as you do. Any way, you hate all of them, could you say which name you think the best from?

Also, I can post my extended list.
