I had them for like....8 months! They had an enjoyable time during that period, but most of them obviously felt they would be better served elsewhere ;)

Still no excuse, I would never let anything happen to my dog.

Uh, you don't have a clue, do you? xD

Average lifespan of rabbits = 1 year
Average lifespan of a dog = 12 - 15 years

I've gone through 9 chickens in three years :-)

I used to have....about 14 rabbits. Damn those things know how to breed quickly :P

I guess there is truth to the saying, "fuck like rabbits."

Both rabbits and chickens should live much longer than that when cared for properly; 1 year for a regular pet rabbit is a gross underestimate if you are looking after them adequately.

@TheMaster: 14 rabbits dead/gone in 8 months is totally shameful and should make you question whether you are actually responsible enough to care for live animals. Judging from the fact you know you should have brought them inside or into shade during the heat is just a demonstration of neglect. Surely after a couple die you would think to take some action, but 14? Seriously...
In all honesty, don't bother getting any more animals until you know you have the time to look after them properly.

9 chickens in 3 years isn't really much better either.

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years

We got two point-of-lay chickens (who are still alive), and the rest were rescue chickens. They're not really expected to live that long.

@Lemon

Hahaha!

Well. I DID buy them VERY nice hutches to love in. I even built a nice little fenced in area that was half sun/shade. Made sure there was plenty of water.

And I actually think there could have been more than 14.....14 was just the most I had at any given time....Often they'd run away as fast as they'd breed. I think a couple of them had babies with their mother....Come to think of it: it was quite disgusting really :P
