The New iPad

Who's waiting for the iPad 3?

I'm excited to see what it'll bring! I'll buy it if it's worth it, otherwise I'll go for the 2nd generation. The main rumours are quad-core, 8MBP camera and retina display (seems like the more probable rumour).

Do you already own one?

If not, I'd say buy it. It never hurts to have the most updated products on the market, especially at the rate technology is outdated. It will almost definitely release with the same pricing modal as past iPads, so it should be fairly affordable.

If you already own one...I don't think this upgrade is worth it. Sure it will be a little bit snappier with a slightly better processor (I heard it will have an A5X?) and a slightly better camera and also be slightly thicker. I don't think any of those warrant an upgrade. I don't think I have ever used the cameras in my iPad apart from the day I bought it, so that isn't a selling point for me. The performance is just fine for what I use it for and it has never stuttered, even on graphic heavy games. Apple's main selling point with the iPad3 will be a retina display. Anyone who has used an iPad knows that retina isn't necessary with a device this large. It was great on the iPhone but it hurts my designer side knowing they will probably bring it to the Mac and iPad next.

If you don't have an iPad then I'd say do it. If you have one already, not worth your money.

I don't already own one myself.

I always want the newer device but I'm buying it for my travel and I don't have a lot of money left so if it's not really worth it I'll go for the 2nd generation. Plus, on my local ads website there are some 64GB for around 300$. They are sealed and have a warranty, it's just that the seller is winning a ton of them on bidding sites and sell them for profit.

Buying a refurb is also an option and that would save me around 100$, but on the Canadian Apple Store there are only two refurbs on sale and they are the first generation.

Or, don't waste your money, and buy a Asus Transformer Prime.

This is useless trolling. I didn't ask for wether I should buy an iPad or another tablet. I already own an iPhone and a Macbook Pro, so having an iPad just makes sense. I will be able to use the 150 apps that I already bought, and with iCloud my data will be shared between my devices. Also, I had some experience with an Android tablet and I hated it, it's one dirty & buggy piece of software.

Sorry, I've been on a trolling spree lately.

In all reality, I am looking forward to seeing what's in the next edition of the iPad. I've been following Apple's developments for.. well. Almost forever.

I never look up any rumors though. I prefer to just find out what's actually inside, though the A5X does sound promising.
Thanks,
兄ニール

We have about 15 different tablets at the office that i've played with. I can honestly say the performance and price of every one of them is complete shit. The only other worthy tablet (imo) is the fire.

counter trolled!

Yeah, I also tested the Motorolla Xoom, the Blackberry PlayBook and the iPad. No need to say what I thought of the others.

My father used to have a Playbook, he said it wasn't bad but there just wasn't enough for it (Ended up getting iPad 2). It has a really good form factor and operating system, but the Appworld isn't enough. I'm glad in the new update they are bringing Android Market support.

Plus the screen is too small, and just like any Blackberry product, it misses the "magic" and "cool" feel.

I also feel the spacing between the screen and the edge of the product seems too big, which makes the device look odd. Does anyone else feel that way?

I love the iPad, but for me it's not worth it. Perhaps it's because I have a macbook air :P

I agree, but at least can it has a special feature. You can swipe on the borders.

It's not the same at all. The iPad's touch screen, extreme simplicity and quick access makes it a better option when you want to waste time on the Internet, play games and watch movies but don't need a Macbook's power. It also costs less than half the price, so I'm not as afraid of damaging it.

You obviously can't compare an iPad to an Air, but Mohammad was saying he personally doesn't feel the need to pay $500+ on a second device when his Air that he already owns can do twice as much.

I surprisingly use my iPad less than I originally thought. I use it while I'm eating breakfast to read news (flipboard FTW) and occasionally at work to take notes or play a game. Then I will sometimes read a book before bed. Any other time I will pull out my MacBook because I feel like I have more options. Especially when I need to type anything.

Yes I agree, touch screen doesn't compare. But like Arron said, $500+ is a lot when I have a device that is already portable and user friendly.

FYI: my mother has an iPad one and will probably get the third when it comes out. So if I could always borrows her if I actually _needed_ it.

Honestly I only started considering an iPad for my trip this summer, because I don't exactly want to carry a 2500$ device in my backpack.

I am definitely much too paranoid to do that. I'm always scared my MBP will get scratched, or I will drop it and the HDD will be damaged, or anything else thats bad that could happen.

I take my MBP to school (currently typing this message on the bus xD), and it has been fine. It's gained a few scratches in my bag, and a very small dent from where I hit someone with it, but except for that it has been fine.

One of my other friends brought her laptop to school and left her bag on a table (I make sure that mine is either with me or on a secure peg), and when she got back the bag was on the floor and someone had trodden on the laptop. £50 for a new screen :-)

I want an iPad, but I wouldn't use it - I currently bring my laptop to school for coding, and use my phone for browsing. Not sure where the iPad would fit in there.
