Client and Server side programmer from the USA

Hello! I came here when somebody linked me to this tutorial written by Kyek. I found the tutorial extremely well written even though I wasn't able to fully figure out the user permissions thing. I ended up having to do it a different but very similar way. The user account system I had before was extremely primitive compared to what I have now and it is definitely a huge step up! :)

I've been messing around with the web since practically forever. I vividly remember the Web 1.0 days and have extremely fond memories using things like HotBot and NorthernLights to search the web on my dial up connection before Google came out.

A few years ago I had an idea for a web application, so I started learning PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, so that I could make it. I always was pretty good with HTML but I never learned any of the good coding conventions about it. Plus I never knew any of the other languages at all. I am completely self taught. I majored in Computer Science in college which helped and took web development classes in high school, but the bulk of what I know is self learned.

This seems like a really awesome community. I am glad to be here and I hope to learn a lot and hopefully contribute a lot too. :)
